Uniq Poet collabs with Void for a new song

Born on February 14, 1994, in Bhaktapur, Utsaha Joshi, better known by his stage name Uniq Poet, is one of the leading emcees of the contemporary Nep-hop industry. Inspired by artists like Eminem, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Jay-Z, MGK, Tupac and more the rap star rose to prominence through the iconic Hip-Hop show ‘Raw Barz.’  

Fascinated with the art of rap, Poet ventured into writing and composing his own material from his teenage years. With over three dozen singles, a full-length album and numerous collaborations under his belt the musicians’ YouTube engrosses a staggering 415K subscribers and counting. 

Apart from his personal content, Poet has partaken in numerous collaborations including the 2020 grandiose all-star alliance ‘Kalamkranti Cypher – The Biggest Hiphop Collaboration Ever’ presented by Halla and worked with other notable artists such as Albatross, Sacar, Balen, Neetesh Jung Kunwar, Mc Flo, Robin Tamang, Rohit Shakya to name a few.

And the past month has been very busy for the rapper as he has continuously been dropping new tunes as well as educational content via his YouTube handle. On 25th April, the rapper released the single ‘Rap ko Bidi’; on 1st May he came back with ‘Jagisake’ both the track features Ashwin Beats on production duty; four days later he published a 16 minutes long tutorial video highlighting the nitty gritty of writing and delivering rap for beginners; followed by yet another single ‘Boyz N the Hood’ premiering on 9th May featuring Ashwin Beats again on the audio production; on 14th May he released ‘Makassam’; on May 20 he published a cover of Kendrick Lamar’s N95 remix titled ‘God Complex’ that the rapper wrote, recorded and produced himself. 

Shedding light on his recent single ‘Makassam’, Poet features popular Indian rapper Gaurav Mankoti a.k.a. Void in the tune. Hailing from Almora, Uttarakhand, emcee Void as Poet also initiated his professional music career with the reality television show ‘India’s Got Talent’. Presented by Primo Education and Visa Services the music for this track is produced by Reverb Dust and the visual works are credited to Rooster. 

The song structurally follows a straight forward ABAB format with Void taking over the first half comprehending his stanzas in a trilingual mixture of Hindi, English and a few sentences of Nepali every now and then. The rapper crafts his witty verses with bluffs, brags and a tinge of romantic angles in between, also citing a few pop-culture references and popular celebrities to create a catchy quotient. 

Poet on the other hand kicks off with his exhilarating strong presence, swiftly flowing through his verses with the message of community building, meaningful life bonds and motivational lifts. The rapper also adds a line of Hindi in between his English and Nepali rhymes, even giving a shout out to Indian rap legends Divine and Raftar. His dominant vocal throw and raw demeanour uplifts the entire tune and the lyrical focus on celebration of friendship further enhances the energy in the latter half of this tune.

A banger indeed, Poet never fails to amuse his followers and the track is already peaking at #25 on trending for music by Nepal moderated YouTube broadcast. So do check out the video if you haven’t already and support genuine local musicianship.
