Mothers, daughters elected ward members

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT  Humla, May 20: Two pairs of Dalit mother and daughter have been elected as ward members of Simkot Rural Municipality in Humla district from separate parties.  

Four of them were elected from Nepali Congress (NC), CPN Maoist Centre and CPN-UML. Jagat Bahadur Poudel, chief election officer said, “Coincidently, two pairs of Dalit mother and daughter of different parties, has been elected in the same rural municipality in the local level election.”

Mother Kunra Sunar of CPN-Maoist was elected in Simkot Rural Municipality Ward 2 and her daughter Rupsi Sunar of CPN-UML was elected in Simkot Rural Muncipality Ward 7. 

Similarly, in Simkot Rural Municipality Ward 6, mother Rajmati Sunar of NC and daughter Parbati Sunar of Maoist Centre in Ward 3 were 

elected as ward members in the election. 

Rajmati garnered 185 votes and her daughter got 351 votes. 

Likewise, Kunra was elected as a ward member with 393 votes and Rupsi garnered 319 votes. All the four elected ward members are illiterate.
