Five stone sculptures arriving from US

BY A STAFF REPORTER Kathmandu May 20: The Embassy of Nepal in Washington D.C. has sent five stone sculptures to the Department of Archaeology of the Nepal government via UPS Freight Forwarding.

Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, the Embassy informed that five stone sculptures of historical and religious importance dating back to the 10th-to-14th century are sent to their hometown.   

Out of five sculptures, the statue of "Uma Maheshwor" was handed over to the Embassy by the Denvert Art Museum in Colorado on September 13, 2021. 

The UPS Foundation has collaborated with the Embassy by sponsoring the transfer of the statues to Nepal. 

Four Other statues of "Chaturmukh Shivlinga", "Nagaraja", "Padmanpani" and "Shakyamuni Buddha" were handed over to the Embassy by private collectors on different dates.

Earlier, the UPS Freight Forwarding had  extended similar cooperation to the Embassy in the transfer of the statue of "Vasudeva Kamalaji" in April 2021.
