The Nepal Shitoryu Karate Association has honoured medal-winning athlete Arika Gurung with a cash prize of Rs. 100,000 following her recent triumph at the WKF Karate Series A held in Malaysia. Writer Shanti Sherchan from Butwal has been honoured with the Motiram Bhatta Sharshta Samman. A selection committee chaired by Prof. Dr. Hiranyalal Gyawali decided to honour Sherchan with this award.

The population of the endangered Raute community, a nomadic group living across various districts of Karnali Province, has been steadily declining in recent years. According to the Raute Project run by SOSEC, Nepal, excessive alcohol consumption, unsafe shelter, lack of timely medical treatment and poor nutrition have led to the deaths of 12 community members in the past seven years.
The newly reconstructed Traffic Police Control Room at the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Ramshahpath, has been formally handed over. The control room, rebuilt with the support of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), was handed over to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office amidst a special function held on Tuesday morning. The symbolic key was presented by NRNA International Coordination Council President Mahesh Kumar Shrestha and Vice President, as well as Chair of the Disaster Management Committee Manoj Kumar Shrestha, to Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Dan Bahadur Karki, Chief of the Valley Police Office.

The salary and allowances of the personal secretaries to the members of the Bagmati Province Assembly have been stopped. While the personal secretaries had received their dues up until the month of Bhadra before Dashain, they have not received their salaries and allowances for the month of Ashoj. As many as 750 persons stranded at Tilicho base camp of a mountainous district, Manang, were rescued by a joint squad of the Nepali Army, the Armed Police Force and the Nepal Police. APF Spokesperson Shailendra Thapa informed that they were brought to Khangsar of Disyang Rural Municipality-9 from the base camp.
