On the occasion of the 42nd anniversary of Janamat Bangmaya Pratishthan Nepal, Dr. Bal Ram Adhikari, President of the Society of Translators Nepal, was awarded the ‘Janamat-Mitra Anubad Rastriya Samman’. The honour was presented in recognition of his significant contributions to the field of translation and promotion of Nepali literature. Notably, Dr. Adhikari was also the recipient of the prestigious ‘Anubad Pragya Puraskar - 2081’ last year.
The Division Forest Office has recovered a large quantity illegally sawn timber from various areas within Aathbiskot Municipality, Rukum West. According to Division Forest Office Chief Basanta Babu Shrestha, a total of 1,465 pieces of illegally sawn timber were seized within a week from two separate locations in Aathbiskot. The timber was recovered from the Jharmare forest area in ward number 2 and the Nayadanda forest area in ward no. 5 of Aathbiskot Municipality. All the seized timber is of the pine species. The operation was carried out by a team deployed from the Division Forest Office following reports of illegal logging in the national forest area.

Two suspects who had been on the run in connection with the death of Srijana Budhamagar, who died after being set on fire in Nepalgunj–12, have been arrested, according to the District Police Office, Banke. According to Police Inspector Ramesh Bista, acting information officer at the District Police Office, Banke, the main accused, Srijana’s boyfriend Arif Dhapali, along with his mother and sister, had already been taken into custody and were under investigation. Police have now also arrested Dhapali’s father and brother, who had absconded following the incident.

Approximately 16 bigha one kattha and four dhur land owned by Nepal Railway, situated to the north of the Indian railway station in the border town of Raxaul, along with its physical infrastructure, has been left in a derelict condition for years.
