Second Economic Survey begins today

Kathmandu, April 15: The second economic survey is starting across the nation today. The National Statistics Office (NSO) stated that the enumerators and supervisors have already reached their respective areas for the survey.

The economic survey beginning today will be completed by the third week of June and almost 5,000 personnel have been mobilised for the enumeration.

Likewise, the Finance Ministry has urged all to cooperate in this survey since the data of the country's overall industrial entities and enterprises are being collected. 

Basic information on 18 sectors of the economy will be collected during the survey, it is said. This includes details such as the number of industries, enterprises, service providers, cooperatives, and both private and public entities, along with their types, employment, production, and service delivery.

All business entities—large and small, registered and unregistered—will be enumerated, and employment data will be recorded. The non-governmental organisations, public corporations, as well as government and private schools and hospitals will also be included in the survey.

Offices have been established in all 77 districts and seven additional locations to carry out the job. These facilities will remain operational until mid-July, the officials said.

The NSO has urged everyone to cooperate with the government’s initiative to collect accurate and essential data. The last such survey was conducted seven years ago, which showed that Nepal had over 923,000 institutions and industrial entities. (RSS)
