Army booked their place in the final on Monday after thrashing Koshi Province by 185 runs, finishing unbeaten at the top of the table with 15 points. The Army side are three‑time champions, having lifted the trophy in 2017, 2021 and 2024. Sudurpaschim sealed their spot courtesy of APF Club’s 74‑run victory over Madhesh Province on Monday. The defeat ended Madhesh’s hopes of reaching the final, leaving Sudurpaschim second with 12 points from nine matches.
Three national records were set at the 2nd Pokhara Open Athletics Meet 2026. On the second day of the meet on Monday, held at Pokhara Stadium, Santoshi Shrestha and Mukesh Bahadur Pal set new marks in the 3000m races, while Sima Chaudhary broke the women’s long jump record. Known as the “Golden Girl”, Shrestha shattered a 35‑year‑old record in the women’s 3000m. She clocked 9:43.19, beating the previous best of 9:48.14 set by Raj Kumari Pandey at the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing. An Olympian, Shrestha also holds national records in the 5000m, 10,000m, half marathon, 25km, 30km road race and marathon. Puspa Limbu of Koshi Province (11:21.79) and Kushum Thapa (13:34.79) finished second and third.
Tribhuwan Army Club secured a double victory in the National Kho Kho Championship, winning both the men’s and women’s titles. The Army teams triumphed in the eighth edition of the men’s competition and the seventh edition of the women’s competition, held at the covered hall in Kirtipur. They took home Rs 75,000 in each category. In the men’s final, Army edged past Lumbini Province in a closely contested four-set match, winning 19–16. The last rites of legendary singer Asha Bhosle were performed with full state honours at the Shivaji Park Crematorium in Mumbai on Monday. According to Indian media sources, Bhosle passed away at Breach Candy Hospital due to multiple organ failure on Sunday at the age of 92, leaving a long void in the Indian music industry. She was known for her incredible versatility, spanning over eight decades and recording more than 12,000 songs in 20 languages. She was most famous for her pioneering work in Bollywood, particularly bold cabaret numbers and romantic hits with composer R D Burman, and she holds the Guinness World Record for the most studio recordings.

Three years after a devastating earthquake in Jajarkot, reconstruction of damaged government offices in the district has gathered pace. The rebuilding process, led by the Intensive Urban and Building Construction Project, has begun for 22 government structures, including the District Administration Office and the District Coordination Committee, which were severely damaged in the quake.

The Koshi Province government has formally begun the process of refunding savings to depositors affected by troubled cooperatives, marking a significant step in addressing financial irregularities in the sector. In the first phase, 287 depositors of the Ambe–Koshi Savings and Credit Cooperative, based in Itahari, Koshi Province, will receive their savings. The refunds are being administered by the Problematic Cooperative Management Committee, formed under the provincial Ministry of Industry, Agriculture and Cooperatives. Priority has been given to depositors with savings of less than Rs. 20,000 in this initial phase.
