With millions of plays and replays across platforms like YouTube and Spotify, and viral moments on TikTok and Instagram, it was a year when songs didn’t just play—they swayed people. “Rukum Maikot,” a song from the movie Khushma, shattered records on YouTube. With music by SD Yogi, lyrics by Surendra Rana, and vocals by SD Yogi and Shanti Shree Pariyar, the song has garnered over 120 million views, earning not only national admiration but also global recognition. Similarly, “Ma Ta Dhale Dhale,” which currently stands at 77 million views, swept across the country upon release. For a while, it felt like the entire nation was vibing to its rhythm—a cultural moment as much as a musical one. Even today, its melody can still be heard playing on local buses. “Tadha Tadha,” a track by Wangden Sherpa and Prajina, was no exception to the list of songs that dominated the year. Although it has fewer views compared to the others, it nonetheless captivated listeners, especially teenagers, who flooded social media with reels made to its catchy rhythm. Likewise, the song “Jhim Jhimanune Akha” also found its place in the world of reels, with thousands of short videos created in its name. “Bardali”, sung by Sushant KC, who was featured in Nepal’s most-streamed artist of 2024, became a cultural sensation, amassing 20 million YouTube views within its first month and inspiring nearly a million TikTok creations.
