Executive Director of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), Dr. Gunakar Bhatta has said that the central bank would be supportive in creating policy to find solutions to address the housing challenges for lower-income groups through microfinance institutions (MFIs). Speaking at a workshop organized by the Nepal Microfinance Bankers’ Association (NMBA) with the support of Habitat for Humanity Nepal and the Australian Government through its Business Partnerships Platform, he stressed on having some impactful policies to eradicate extreme poverty.
Nepali Congress general secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma on Tuesday met with the Election Commission officials and demanded for arrangement of voting rights to Nepali citizens living abroad. In a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner, Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, and his team they drew attention of the constitutional body, to take decision in this regard as the Supreme Court has already given a verdict about the voting rights to Nepali citizens living abroad.
Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Damak has stated that all preparations have been completed for the first-ever employment fair to be held in Damak, Jhapa on Thursday. Gokul Shrestha, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Damak said that the fair is being organised by the chamber with the support of Damak Municipality. Speaking at a press conference held on Tuesday, Shrestha said that the fair was expected to bring together employers and job seekers.
Nepal Chamber of Commerce has submitted 17-point suggestions to the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) for the monetary policy of the coming fiscal year 2022/23. The NCC has made 17-point recommendations covering various issues, including the existing problems of the economy, pressure on foreign exchange reserves and liquidity management.
The price of petrol in Nepal has gone up by Rs. 60 per litre in past five months. Similar is the case with other petroleum products like diesel, kerosene, aviation fuel and cooking gas. In the latest go, the price of petrol went up by Rs. 21 on Monday and reached Rs. 199. The price of diesel and kerosene, likewise, increased by Rs. 27 each and reached Rs. 192. The price of aviation fuel for domestic flights increased by Rs. 19 per litre and that for the international flight went up by USD 100 per kiloliter. Rural roads in majority of local levels in Kalikot district are not in use. The roads dug using excavators by the local governments as their first priority have now remained unused. The roads built without any technical advice have become unusable after the heavy rain. With the concept of building a ring road, Narharinath Rural Municipality built a road from Lalighat Bazaar of Ward No. 1 through Kotwada to rural municipality centre. The excavator drivers themselves were road technicians while opening the track. Due to the narrowness of the track, it was difficult to drive through.
Pankaj Bikram Nembang was elected the president of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) for the next term at the 21st Electoral Congress held in Kathmandu on Monday. Nembang, also the senior vice president of ANFA, garnered 45 votes in his support to take the helm of the domestic governing body of football. His closest rival Karma Tsering Sherpa, the existing president, received 39 votes to conclude his tenure at ANFA leadership.

Actor and documentarian Jaswant Dev Shrestha has received the popular American television Emmy Award for his cultural film Saraswati Puja. He is the first Nepali to receive the Emmy Award. Even though his three documentaries on festival series including Festival of Dashain, Festival of Saraswati Puja and Festival of Maha Shivaratri were nominated at the prestigious American Television Emmy Award, he received award from Saraswati Puja.
All preparations have been completed to vaccinate children of the five-to-11-year age group against COVID-19 in Banke and Rupandehi districts. Naresh Shrestha, vaccination focal person and officer at the District Health Office (DHO), Banke, said that more than 76,000 children in the age group would be vaccinated with Pfizer vaccine from June 23 to 25.
