Banke, Rupandehi children to be vaccinated

BY OUR CORRESPONDENTS  Nepalgunj/Bhairahawa June 21:  All preparations have been completed to vaccinate children of the five-to-11-year age group against COVID-19 in Banke and Rupandehi districts. Naresh Shrestha, vaccination focal person and officer at the District Health Office (DHO), Banke, said that more than 76,000 children in the age group would be vaccinated with Pfizer vaccine from June 23 to 25.   

Shrestha said that health workers were provided with training in various municipalities during the preparation and support has been sought from the local representatives.

The three-day vaccination campaign aims to vaccinate 76,239 children in Banke, informed Shrestha. 

The DHO aims to vaccinate 20,231 children in Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City and 6,332 in Narainapur Rural Municipality.Similarly, the Banke DHO has sought to vaccinate 8,345 children in Baijnath Rural Municipality, 6,988 in Duduwa Rural Municipality and 6,372 in Janaki Rural Municipality. Similarly, the DHO targets to inoculate 10,231 in Kohalpur Municipality, 8,224 in Khajura Municipality and 9,257 in Raptisonari Rural Municipality.

Giving information about the vaccination campaign, Shrestha said that most of the vaccination centers have been set up in schools. Campaign to vaccinate people aged above 12 years is underway in Banke.

According to the DHO, out of 401,799 target groups, 84.4 per cent have received the first dose while 71.6 per cent have received the second dose of the vaccine.
