By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 30: An international art exhibition titled “From Mountain to Sea” was inaugurated on Friday, March 27, at Safiuddin Shilpalaya in Dhaka, bringing together artists from Bangladesh, Nepal, and the Republic of Korea.
The exhibition was formally opened by eminent Bangladeshi artist Rafiqun Nabi, who attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Organised by ArtHub, the event features the works of 60 renowned artists from the three participating countries.
Among the distinguished guests as special invitees were Professor Abul Bark Alvi from the Department of Printmaking and Professor Jamal Ahmed from the Department of Drawing and Painting, both affiliated with the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Dhaka. Also present was Md. Muniruzzaman, representing Gallery Chitrak.
The exhibition has been curated by Bangladeshi curator Taimur Hannan. Special guests also joined the inauguration ceremony virtually from Nepal and the Republic of Korea. From Nepal, renowned Mithila artist Ranju Yadav and journalist Amarendra Yadav participated online. Similarly, noted Korean painter Kim Yong Bae and global art consultant Lee Jun Hee joined from the Republic of Korea.
The five-day exhibition, which runs until March 31, showcases a total of 106 artworks in diverse mediums. Eight Nepali artists—Ranju Yadav, Vandana Kanak, Manoj Tamang, Bibha Lal, Aarati Kumari Sah, Anamika Gautam, Namrata Singh Danuwar, and Subhadri Subha—are presenting acrylic-on-canvas works created during the Mithila Art Workshop 2025 led by Ranju Yadav.
In addition, seven prominent artists from the Republic of Korea are exhibiting eleven traditional watercolour paintings of varying sizes. Bangladeshi artists have contributed two artworks each in mediums such as acrylic, oil, and mixed media. The exhibition is supported by Mithila Art Foundation, Kathmandu, Nepal and Art Centre of Bangladesh.
According to curator Taimur Hannan, the exhibition aims to foster cross-cultural dialogue and artistic collaboration among South and East Asian artists, reflecting diverse landscapes and cultural narratives—from mountains to seas.
