By Our Correspondent,Lekhnath, Mar. 21: The tourist capital of Pokhara is gearing up to celebrate the Nepali New Year, 2083 B.S. The Pokhara Hotels Association Nepal will host the 21st edition of the Fewa New Year Festival at Lakeside from April 12-14.

The festival, held along the Lakeside road by Fewa Lake, will highlight tourism, culture, and cuisine. Association President Laxman Subedi said preparations for this year’s festival are progressing at a rapid pace.

“We are organising the festival to celebrate the Nepali New Year in a special way,” he said. “Various sub-committees have already been formed to manage the preparations.” The association’s First Vice-President Deepak Shrestha and Second Vice-President Ganeshraj Pahari have been appointed as co-coordinators of the festival.

With the aim of promoting both domestic and international tourism, the festival is expected to boost economic activity following the Gen-Z movement and recent elections. Subedi, who is also the festival’s chief coordinator, added that the event will emphasise the conservation of Fewa Lake while celebrating the New Year.

The festival will feature Lok Dohori (folk duet) and other musical performances, pop concerts, dance shows, and a variety of entertainment programmes.

To promote the event, the association previously organised the ‘Jaun Hai Pokhara’ campaign from March 23 to 27 in several cities across eastern Nepal.
