ANFA Women’s League Sankata, Army make winning start

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 19: Sankata Club and Tribhuvan Army FC launched their campaigns in the Martyr’s Memorial ANFA Women’s League with convincing victories at Chyasal Stadium, Lalitpur, on Wednesday.

Sankata swept aside New Road Team (NRT) 4–0, while Army thrashed Jhapa FC 5–0.

In the opening fixture, Sankata’s goals came from Win Theingi Tun (5'), Lucia Leila Jose Mocambique (26'), Sukriya Miya (28') and Queenabel Akosua Amankrah (52'), with two strikes in each half sealing a dominant performance.

Army’s rout of Jhapa was powered by a brace from Anjana Thulung Rai, alongside goals from Dipa Shahi, Hima Chaudhary and Tulasa Bohara. Jhapa held firm until half-time but collapsed after the interval, conceding all five goals.

Shahi broke the deadlock in the 57th minute, Chaudhary doubled the lead in the 68th, before Rai struck twice in quick succession (86' and 90'+1). Bohara rounded off the scoring in stoppage time (90'+6).

Nine teams are competing in this year’s league: Armed Police Force (APF) Club, Bagmati Youth Club, Church Boys United, Jhapa Football Club, New Road Team (NRT), Nepal Police Club, RS Resort and Beach Football, Sankata Football Club and Tribhuvan Army Football Club.
