Storm blows away house roofs, disrupts electricity supply

By Our Correspondent, Sindhulimadhi, March 17: Over a dozen houses have been damaged due to storm Monday evening here.

The gale also caused disruption of electricity as many electricity related infrastructures got affected.

The storm blew away many roofs of houses and cowsheds including schools. It also damaged crops, fruits and vegetables.

Electricity has been discontinued in Ghyanlekh, Sunkoshi, Golanjor, Fikkal, Tinpatan and Marin rural municipalities.

Som Prasad Baral, ward chair of Golanhor Rural Municipality-1, said roof of a primary school located at Jukepani has been blown away.

We have got reports that storm has blown away roofs of nine houses at Jukepani, Sarautar, Chyakutar, Dhansar, Birta villages, said Baral.

Daulat Karki, ward char of Golanjor Rural Municipality-2, said that roofs of five houses have been damaged due to storm at Rajaya village.

Surya Prakash Subedi, DSP at the district police office, Sindhuli, said that there was no report about human causality due to storm.

Keshav Khatri, engineer at Sindhuli distribution service centeral of Nepal Electricity Authority, said technicians and employees were dispatched in the field to resume electricity which has been disrupted due to storm that caused damage in poles and lines.
