By Bishnu Prasad Pokharel, Damak, March 9: Member of the House of Representatives from Jhapa Constituency-5 and senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Balen Shah, has made his election expenses public.
In Jhapa, which has five parliamentary constituencies, a total of 90 candidates had contested in the election. After the election results were announced, Shah disclosed the details of the expenses incurred during his election campaign.
According to the details submitted to the District Election Office in Jhapa through his election representative, Shah spent a total of Rs 1,417,229 during the campaign.
The expenditure report includes Rs 293,800 spent on transportation during the campaign, Rs 35,000 for five air trips, Rs 28,970 for meals during voter training programs, and Rs 580,000 for door-to-door campaign activities, among other expenses.
The expense details were submitted to the District Election Office by Shah’s representative, Nabin Bhandari.
According to Tulsi Kumar Nepal, chief of the District Election Office Jhapa, Shah is the first candidate to submit the election expense report.
