By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 9: A women-centric Nepali film ‘Tika (Stateless Soul)’ was announced on Sunday, coinciding with the International Women’s Day.
The film will be presented by Bhabishya Khadka Films in collaboration with Third Eye Arts.
The film aims to present the struggles, self-respect, identity, and self-reliance experienced by women in Nepali society.
The film is to be directed by Shankar Karki.
The film’s theme poster, released on Sunday along with the production announcement, features the word ‘Tika’ written in white letters inside a red circle, symbolising the struggle, courage, and moral purity portrayed in the film.
Produced by Bhabishya Khadka, the producer of the superhit film ‘Jerry on Top’, the film has already signed actors Mahesh Tripathi, actresses Reecha Sharma and Barsha Siwakoti, and comedian Nirmal Sharma for major roles.
Child artist Ayushi Dhakal will also appear in a role. Executive producer Tej Bikram KC said that the selection of other artists and technical team members is still underway.
The film is based on a story by Chandan Jha and director Karki, while the screenplay has been written by Ram Kumar Shrestha.
According to KC, the film will deliver a social message along with entertainment. He said the production team expects to provide audiences with a different experience through a powerful story, excellent performances, and strong presentation.
The production team has also added that the film’s shooting will begin with an official announcement after the entire cast and crew are finalised, and the release date will be revealed at the same time.
