By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Mar. 7: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is organising an interactive programme to hear from women leaders from various fields about their journey to leadership on the occasion of the 116th International Women’s Day on Sunday.Suita Dangol, Acting Mayor of the Metropolitan City, said that the programme has been designed for women who want to develop their personality and leadership skills. “The interactive programme will be inspiring. The experiences of leadership in different sectors can be motivating. Stories of courage and struggle and the role of women in social transformation can be educational. You will learn how to seize opportunities and how to face challenges,” Dangol said.
Speaking at a press meet organised on Friday to provide information about the programme, KMC spokesperson Nabin Manandhar said, “The metropolis will organise an interactive programme titled ‘Power in Action – Every Time is Now’ to share the ups and downs of leadership journeys, as well as the learnings and experiences of women leaders from various fields.”
The programme will also include information about judicial facilitators, women’s networks, reconciliation issues and a vibrant art exhibition representing women of different age groups under the ‘One Ward: One Model Enterprise Programme’, among other services and programmes targeted at women in the KMC.
The dialogue is expected to provide a platform for building a violence-free society and promoting infrastructure and administrative services based on social justice. It also aims to encourage gender-friendly roads, expand access to public facilities, and foster understanding of social psychology to ensure safe workplaces.
The programme is also expected to help improve the situation of women, men, and gender and sexual minorities who face discrimination, humiliation, and abuse in leadership positions, while encouraging women to learn from each other and share their experiences.
This year, the 116th International Women’s Day will be celebrated on Sunday with the international slogan “Rights, Justice and Action: For All Women and Girls” and the national slogan “Rights, Justice and Opportunities for All Women and Girls.”
