By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 6: The House of Representatives election concluded successfully across Nepal on Thursday, with citizens from all walks of life, including several prominent figures from the entertainment industry, turning out to cast their votes.
Many celebrities took part in the democratic process, aiming to select capable leaders for the nation.
Veteran actor and comedian Hari Bansha Acharya, voted from Kathmandu-5 at the Budhanilkantha polling centre. He said on Facebook, “I exercised my democratic right and cast my vote. I hope this election brings the good and capable leadership that the country has been seeking. Congratulations and thanks to the government led by Prime Minister Sushila Karki for conducting the election and leading the country toward a path of resolution from the complex situation.”
Likewise, veteran actor Madan Krishna Shrestha cast his vote and, sharing a video, expressed his happiness at being able to vote peacefully. He observed that people are voting enthusiastically, noting that this is the demand of the times. Every party shares the same goals of national development, progress, and controlling corruption but they approach them from different angles. Shrestha urged everyone to work collectively and also thanked Prime Minister Karki for doing a great job in a short time with a small cabinet.
Prakash Saput, singer and proportional candidate of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), cast his vote at a polling centre in Kathekhola Rural Municipality, Baglung. He wrote on Facebook, “Votes were cast with hopes for stability, peace, and prosperity, and rights and responsibilities were fulfilled.”
Popular actress Rekha Thapa, a voter from Kathmandu Constituency - 4, cast her ballot at the Pashupati Campus polling centre in Chabahil. She shared on social media, “Best wishes to all parties to build the country through cooperation and unity.”
Comedian Manoj Gajurel voted at Bal Binayak School in Balkot, Suryabinayak-2, Bhaktapur, while actress and director Dipa Shree Niraula, a voter from Morang Constituency - 6, cast her ballot at Adarsha Balika Secondary School in Gaheli, Biratnagar Metropolitan City-7. Niraula shared a video of her entire family voting and urged people to vote not for ‘ours’ but for the right candidate, expressing hope for a majority government and a peaceful conclusion to the elections.
Actor Bijay Baral, voting at a polling centre in Lalbandi in Sarlahi Constituency -1, stated “Today’s vote brings tomorrow’s change.”
Actor Jitu Nepal, a voter from Kathmandu Constituency - 2, expressed hopes for electoral reforms. He wrote that repeated voting should end, leaders should not constantly seek votes, and future elections should adopt high-tech electronic systems with same-day results. He also emphasised empowering capable local engineers and addressing the demands of Gen Z.
Suraksha Pant, after voting in Rupandehi Constituency- 2, said on social media “I cast my valuable vote wishing for peace and security of all Nepalis, an unmatched unity that no one can undermine, and the relentless progress that future generations repeatedly aspire for. May everyone’s vote be meaningful.”
Other celebrities who participated include singer Rachana Rimal at Shree Janjyoti Primary School, Jhapa-1, actress Garima Sharma at Barahi Secondary School, Ratnanagar Municipality-10, Chitwan, comedian Shivshankar Rijal ‘Joginder’ at Janata Residential Secondary School, Barhathwa Municipality-15, Sarlahi, and singer Shiv Pariyar at a polling station in Kathmandu-2.
Similarly, actress Barsha Raut cast her vote from Kathmandu‑2, while actor couple Priyanka Karki and Ayushman Joshi also voted, stating that they did so for change and a better Nepal.
Actress Niti Shah, former Miss Nepal Sadichha Shrestha, actor Salon Basnet, actor couple Anup Baral and Deeya Maskey, actress Nita Dhungana, former Miss Nepal Malvika Subba, actress Swastima Khadka, and many other celebrities voted with the intention of choosing leaders capable of guiding the country towards a better, more secure future.
