blog

Kathmandu, March 4: Nepal has participated in the 60th edition of Internationale Tourismus-Borse (ITB) from 3 – 5 March, 2026 in Berlin, Germany. The ITB is one of the world's leading travel trade shows.

Robin Regmi, a senior officer of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), said that Nepal's participation in ITB Berlin, which started on March 3 and will continue until March 5, is a strategic effort not only to establish a commercial presence but also to reinstate Nepal's potential in the global tourism market.

He said that the NTB has the goal of effectively promoting experiences such as the thrilling trekking trails of the Himalayas, the heritage of ancient temples, tranquil surroundings, diverse cultural and religious traditions, and unique natural beauty in the international market.

Sagar Phuyal, the Chargé d'affaires at the Embassy of Nepal in Berlin, attended and observed the inauguration of the Nepal Pavilion at ITB Berlin.

NTB senior officers Regmi, Sirjana Nepali and Shivaraj Pandey were present at the programme.

"Nepal's participation at ITB Berlin is not only an opportunity to expand relations with international partners but also a commitment to re-present Nepal's tourism potential to the world. Despite the challenges, we are striving to establish Nepal as a 'must-visit destination'," Regmi said.

According to him, Nepal has now emerged not just as a destination for mountain climbing or trekking, but as a comprehensive tourist destination offering multifaceted experiences.

Nepal offers opportunities to engage in adventure sports such as paragliding, bungee jumping, rafting, mountain biking, as well as sight-seeing historical palace areas, ancient temples, Buddhist stupas, and living cultural heritage.

Regmi stated that yoga, meditation, Ayurvedic treatments, and wellness retreats conducted in natural surroundings are attracting tourists seeking mental and physical balance. He said that community-based homestays, environmentally friendly resorts, and services based on local products have further strengthened efforts to make tourism in Nepal sustainable and inclusive.

Senior official Regmi stated that while competition in the global market is intensifying, Nepal is trying to establish its originality, natural resources, and warm hospitality as a strong brand.

The NTB has stated that it is advancing a long-term strategy to provide international travellers with a comprehensive experience of adventure, spiritual peace and cultural depth through the concept of a single destination with multiple experiences.

The Board expects to expand new partnerships with international travel agencies, industry professionals and media, as well as to create additional opportunities for Nepal's tourism sector, through the participation of 25 Nepali companies at ITB Berlin.

With pleasant weather, well-curated itineraries, a dynamic and professional travel industry, excellent services, and the renowned warmth of Nepali hospitality, Nepal’s tourism sector stands ready to welcome visitors offering experiences and memories truly once in a lifetime. (RSS)
