Madhesi Ekta Samaj hosts colourful Holi in Texas

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 2: Madhesi Ekta Samaj, America, organised a vibrant and grand Holi celebration in Irving, Texas, on Saturday, bringing together more than 100 members of the Nepali community in a colourful display of unity, culture, and harmony.

The event, hosted by the Texas Chapter of the organisation, transformed the venue into a lively space filled with colours, music, and festive spirit. Community members of different age groups participated enthusiastically, celebrating the festival with traditional greetings, cultural exchanges, and joyful camaraderie.

The programme was chaired by Surendra Ram, President of the Texas Chapter. He extended warm wishes to all attendees, emphasising the importance of preserving and promoting Nepal’s rich cultural heritage in the diaspora.

Festivals like Holi serve as a powerful reminder of unity and shared identity among Nepalis living abroad, he said.

Sanjay Jyamire, Senior Vice President of the organisation, Pravin Bhandari, spokesperson of the Consulate General of Nepal in Dallas; Tika Paudel, Deputy Mayor of Euless; Bijay Bhusal, President of the Nepalese Society of Texas (NST); Netra Pandey, President of Indreni Samaj; Shashi Yadav, International Vice President of Madhesi Ekta Samaj; and noted social activist Amarnath Sah were present in the celebrations.  

Speakers at the function underlined that Holi, beyond its vibrant colours, symbolises reconciliation, friendship, and the triumph of goodwill over discord. 

They also said that celebrating such festivals abroad not only nurtures cultural continuity but also strengthens community networks and collective identity among second-generation youth.

Participants expressed joy in reconnecting with friends and families while sharing traditional food, music, and festive colours. The atmosphere resonated with laughter, unity, and a renewed commitment to community engagement.
