By Radhakrishna Dumre,Waling (Syangja), Feb. 29: A modern mortuary refrigerator has been donated to the Garhaun Primary Hospital in Waling, Syangja. The refrigerator was donated by the Syangja Sahayog Samaj International Coordination Committee.
Committee spokesperson Dharmagat Parajuli said the support came through coordination with its chapters and Nepalis living in Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, the UK and Norway, along with the national coordination committee.
Hospital Chairperson Dilip Pratap Khanal said this is the first well-equipped mortuary refrigerator at Waling Hospital and that it will provide relief during difficult times. “There was a problem due to the lack of a mortuary to keep bodies for several days. This will now make things easier, at least to some extent,” he said.
Hospital Chief Dr. Suraj Dhakal said the facility will be especially helpful when post-mortems cannot be conducted immediately and when families need time to arrive from outside. He added that even keeping a body for one or two days had been difficult, making the refrigerator essential for the hospital. The handover programme was attended by District Coordination Committee Chair Shri Prasad Giti, Waling Municipality Mayor Krishna Khanal, founding chairperson of the committee Anantaraj Shrestha, and former chairperson Tukaraj Aryal, among others.
