Kathmandu, Feb 24: The cabinet meeting convened on Tuesday has appointed Dr Diwakar Bhatta as the Chairperson of the Consumer Court.
The appointment was made on the recommendation of the Judicial Council.
Minister for Home Affairs and Spokesperson of the government, Om Prakash Aryal, informed that Dr Bhatta, who had been serving as the Judge of the Kathmandu District Court, has been appointed to the post.
Dr Bhatta holds a Masters of Law (LLM) degree from the Tribhuvan University, graduating first in the first division from Nepal's first LLM programme. He also earned another LLM degree in international law and human rights from University of Hong Kong, also graduating in the first division.
With more than two decades of experience in the field of law and justice, Dr Bhatta also holds a PhD from the Tribhuvan University.
He has authored dozens of research articles related to law and justice and is widely regarded for his expertise in writing, research and professional training.
Dr Bhatta also has an extensive experience of conducting research and training programme at both national and international institutions. As an established legal scholar, he is also recognized as an expert in his subject area. (RSS)
