False information creates serious problem in society: UML Vice-Chair Poudel

Lumbini, Feb 6: Vice-Chairperson of the CPN (UML), Bishnu Prasad Poudel, has said false information has been creating serious problems in the society.     

Inaugurating a training related to artificial intelligence (AI) organised by Press Chautari Nepal, Rupandehi, at Butwal today, Vice-Chair Poudel stressed that journalists should be responsible and alert to stop misleading information being spread through social platform.     

"Social platforms have been developed as the medium of spreading false and misleading information. This will breed serious problems in the society if false and misleading information are not stopped," he alerted.     

Mentioning that science and technology has been bringing huge change in human life, leader Poudel pointed out the need of using it for the welfare of human as the world is shrinking along with its rapid development.     

He clarified that though the science and technology makes tremendous changes, human are the ultimate truth, adding technology could not replace human's knowledge and wisdom.     

Stating that the role of journalists would be decisive to identifying false information and control it, the UML Vice-Chair urged the journalists to keep truth, fact and responsibility in centre while using science and technology.     

More than two dozens of journalists active in Rupandehi were present in the training organised on the occasion of 28th establishment day of Press Chautari Nepal. Experts in artificial intelligence—Ajay Sharma and Amrit Panthi imparted the training.(RSS)
