By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Feb 2: Prime Minister Sushila Karki, addressing the National Assembly for the first time on Sunday, expressed confidence that the election of the House of Representatives (HoR) would be held within the scheduled time in a free, fair and impartial environment.

Speaking at the fifth meeting of the 19th session of the National Assembly, which began on January 18, Prime Minister Karki informed the members about the government’s preparations for the HoR election, which is one of its top priorities, as well as the ongoing efforts in the areas of good governance.

She clarified that she assumed office as Prime Minister not with any desire for power but due to exceptional circumstances, and expressed her eagerness to hand over responsibilities to a new government formed through the House of Representatives election to be held on time.

Prime Minister Karki also congratulated the newly elected members of the National Assembly.

She recalled that an interim government had been formed during the Gen Z movement on 8 and 9th September. Additionally, the Prime Minister responded to questions raised by members during the discussion on the National Good Conduct Policy Study Report, 2082 BS, presented by Kamala Devi Panta, President of the Committee on Development, Economic Affairs, and Good Governance.
