Maintain independent thinking, not get swayed by social media illusion: former PM Prachanda

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Feb 1: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that he has no greed for power and that he is not one among the old leaders.

“Present is the time related with the issue of the Gen Z dream. Many may think I and those like me, the old leaders, are the same. But, I want to make clear through this public platform that I am not in the crowd of those old leaders. I never want to participate in the negotiation of power sharing, which has made the nation a hostage. I am different and I will prove it,” said Prachanda, also former Prime Minister, in a video message posted on his social media page.

He claimed that his work and honesty will be proved by future generation and time if not the current one. “Personal sacrifice and spirit of struggle and the journey of my life are like an open book.”

He said the source of strength in his struggle is the sacrifice of those martyrs who fought for a beautiful and prosperous Nepal.

“ Dear my young friends, the things that you are demanding today, such as, the end of corruption, transparency and a strong government are the agenda that I have been raising since the People’s War. I have for a long time been saying that for political stability and development in the country, a provision of directly elected executive head should be in place. Parliamentary games and musical chair games have pushed the country back, we all know. Therefore, my demands match with yours, we have similar demands. I am a traveller continuing the journey carrying your thoughts,” said leader Prachanda.

Please do not get swayed by what you see in social media because not everything that glitters is diamond. I am not here to ask for votes but to appeal to you all for maintaining independent thinking. Do not  stop asking questions. I am ready to respond. Exert more pressure on me, I am ready to face that because I know you are the source of my strength, said Prachanda.

He said that the country could not afford trial and error with regard to proper leader for the country.
