Art exhibition ‘With Love from Russia’ kicks off

Kathmandu, Jan. 30: The Russian House in Kathmandu held an art exhibition titled ‘With Love from Russia’ on Thursday to celebrate artistic expression as a bridge of friendship and cultural connection between Russia and Nepal. 

The exhibition showcases works by renowned Russian artist Mariia Semenova, presented as a heartfelt message of love, creativity and shared cultural values. The event was attended by artists, diplomats and art enthusiasts.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Bhupal Rai, Chancellor of the Nepal Academy, along with artist Kiran Manandhar, a veteran artist and former Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts.

In her opening remarks, Anastasia Khokhlova, Director of the Russian House, highlighted the role of art in strengthening people-to-people ties and promoting cultural dialogue between Nepal and Russia. She emphasised that cultural exchanges such as this exhibition play a vital role in fostering mutual understanding between the two nations.

Exhibiting artist Mariia Semenova shared insights into her artistic journey and the inspiration behind her works, describing art as a universal language of emotion and human connection. 

Veteran artist Manandhar highlighted the importance of international artistic exchange and appreciated the initiative for encouraging deeper cultural understanding.

Likewise, Bhupal Rai highlighted the value of art and literature in enriching Nepal’s cultural and academic landscape, while also strengthening Nepal-Russia relations.

A total of 25 artworks are on display in the exhibition. Semenova, who has been involved in art since the age of 11, is now 50 years old. She has created more than 200 artworks and has participated in over 60 international art exhibitions across various countries.
