Sarubhaktaka Kabita unveiled

blog

By Our Correspondent,Lekhnath, Jan. 27: The literary journey of Sarubhakta spans more than five decades. Over this journey, seven of his poetry collections have been published.

Bringing together all those poetic works published at different times, along with previously unpublished poems, a comprehensive poetry collection by him has now entered the market.

The work, titled ‘Sarubhaktaka Kabita,’ was unveiled at a programme organised by the Pokhreli Youth Cultural Family.

Published by the Sarubhakta Sarokar Kendra, the 642-page book contains 313 poems. The collection includes poems from Bokshi ko Ahwan ra Ghoshanapatra, along with Canvas ra Shabdabimba, Kavi, Premi ra Pagal, Prayogshalabhitra, Itar Samaya, Ek Kilo Akshar, Pidadesh and Chattan.

Speaking at the programme, Sarubhakta said poetry is an ego-born expression of the subconscious and a form of self-address. Considering the thirst for creation itself as life, he said that poetry is the music of the word-brahma. “My poetic belief is that transient conditions cannot erase the existence of mountains, rivers and oceans,” he said.

At the ceremony, senior artist Durga Baral ‘Vatsyayan’ recalled that Sarubhakta had been different in nature from others since his youth. “Sarubhakta has never compromised with continuous practice,” he added. Sarubhakta’s contemporary writer Usha Sherchan said the work as the outcome of his half-century-long literary penance.

Singer Haridevi Koirala portrayed Sarubhakta as an ascetic, practitioner and philosopher of the Nepali literary sky.

“From children’s literature to novels, epics, ghazals, muktaks and lyrical poetry, Sarubhakta’s pen appears powerful,” she said.

The programme, chaired by Rita Adhikari ‘Ritu’, President of the Pokhreli Youth Cultural Family, featured remarks by poet Ramesh Shrestha, writer Saraswati Pratiksha, Laxman Thapa and others.
