First edition of Contemporary Poetry with Tea held

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 27: The first serial of the 'Contemporary Poetry with Tea,' was held in Pingalasthan, Kathmandu, on Sunday.

Various poets presented their creative works at the event organised by Bartaman Kavita Samuha.

Poet Suman Sangam Thapa recited poems focused on love and emotion, titled 'Hridaya Dukheko Bakhat' (When the Heart Aches) and 'Premko Rang' (The Colour of Love). Similarly, Poet Radhika Kalpit presented a love poem titled 'Timisanga Yasari Bhet Nabhaeko Bhaye Hunthyo' (I Wish We Hadn't Met Like This) and also gave a poetic voice to social memory through the poem 'Ke Ma Timilai Birshana Sakula' (Will I Be Able to Forget You?), dedicated to the Gen-Z martyrs.

Poet Bina Nemkul enriched the audience's experience by articulating various dimensions of life through her poems 'Nirvastra' (Unclothed), 'Mero Byastata' (My Busyness), and 'Ek Dharko Sindur' (One Line of Vermillion). Poet Shobha Sarav left a deep impression on everyone by reciting the powerful poem 'Kshatipurti' (Compensation), along with 'Ichcha Patra' (Letter of Desire/Will). Additionally, Samishran Dhara presented 'Geet' (Song) and 'Hardik Aabhar' (Heartfelt Gratitude), bringing a musical feel to the poetry session along with an expression of thanks.

Poet Bishwa Sigdel recited 'Prem Ek Aatmaslagha' (Love is Self-Praise), which highlighted the relationship between love and ego, examining how love declines when ego dominates. Poet Chandra Bahadur Lama recited 'Rato Carpet' (Red Carpet), portraying the artificiality and pretense of the current era. Furthermore, Poet Rami Priya expressed personal feelings and struggles through the poems 'Nadi Aafai Baato Banaucha' (The River Carves Its Own Path) and 'Jiddi Timi' (You are Stubborn).

Bishwa Sigdel, a representative of the Bartaman Kabita Samuha, which has previously organised poetry symposiums on various topics, including environmental (green) poetry, stated that the group will continue this series in the days ahead.

Another representative of the group, Chandra Bahadur Lama, informed attendees that the Bartaman Kabita Samuha remains committed to bringing Nepali literature to the global stage through translation.
