Police Office, Myagdi, in coordination with the Baidam Ward Police Office,
Pokhara, have arrested 32-year-old Ramesh Kami, also known as “Prem,” a
permanent resident of Pokhara Metropolitan City–23, Thulakhet, and currently
living at Srijanachowk, Pokhara Metropolitan City–7, on charges of murdering
his wife.
According to police, while 20-year-old Punmaya BK had gone to her maternal home at Jhindanda, Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality–7, she was attacked from behind with a sharp weapon on the night of January 17.
She was seriously injured in the attack and was taken to the Provincial Hospital, Beni, where doctors declared her dead at 2:00 AM.
During the investigation at the crime scene,
police tracked down the suspect and took him into custody from Birauta, Pokhara
Metropolitan City–17, on the night of January 18. While in custody, the accused
confessed to attacking his wife with a sharp weapon and fleeing the scene,
according to Police Inspector Gobinda Subedi of the District Police Office, Myagdi.
Inspector Subedi said that the accused has been charged under the homicide provisions of the National Penal (Code) Act, 2074 (2017).
The District Court, Myagdi, granted five days of remand on January 20 to
continue the investigation.
