Mahottari, Jan 21: The voters here are excited over the upcoming election to the House of Representatives (HoR) after the nomination was held successfully on Tuesday. The HoR is being held on March 5.
Not only the local political leaders and cadres but also those in other professions are making election a talk of the town in the district. Whether it is a tea shop or market place, election preparation, voting, candidates and their agendas are being the central topics of conversation.
The election atmosphere gained a significant pace after the nomination. There are four constituencies in the district where total 143 candidacies were filed from various political parties.
Chief returning officer Madhav Prasad Adhikari informed that constituency-1 saw the nomination by 27 persons, while constituency-2 by 37 persons, constituency-3 by 42 persons and constituency-4 by 37 persons.
Among the total, 13 are women candidates. Of 13 candidacies, four are from constituency-1, five from constituency-2 and two each from constituency-3 and 4.
Chief District Officer Indra Dev Yadav informed that the candidacy filing was conducted in a peaceful manner in all four constituencies.
Earlier, an all-side meeting held on Monday witnessed commitment to adhere fully to the election code of conduct. Robust security is managed for the election, CDO Yadav added.
There are total 431,252 persons registered in the voters' list in the district. Among them, 235,138 are male, 196,097 are female and two others, according to the district election office.(RSS)
