Citizen's easy access to integrated health-related information stressed

Kathmandu, Jan 15 (RSS): An initiative has been launched to integrate scattered health-related information and data. The Asian E-Health Information Network has supported the initiative, which was launched by the Department of Health Services, according to the initiative’s chief specialist, Dr Jhabindra Bhandari.

He shared this information at a workshop on the “Roadmap for Good Governance of Health Statistics in Nepal.” Similar initiatives have already been implemented in Vietnam and Mongolia.

Chief of Management Division within the Department, Keshab Pundit, said that although the Constitution and various policies in Nepal have guaranteed citizens’ health-related rights, the general public is still not adequately informed about them, highlighting the need for such an initiative. He added that the initiative is also expected to support the implementation of the Digital Nepal Framework.

Advocate Rup Narayan Shrestha highlighted key aspects of integrating and digitalising health-related legal provisions.

With the support of the World Health Organisation, the Department had implemented a 10-year Roadmap for an Integrated Health System four years ago, focusing on ensuring citizens’ easy access to comprehensive health-related information through integration and digitalisation. (RSS)
