By TRN Online, Janakpurdham, Jan 14: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has said that the current non-partisan citizens’ government was formed after the Gen Z movement due to the absence of an “guardian-like leadership” in the country, and its key responsibility now is to ensure good governance and conduct elections on schedule.
Addressing the inaugural session of a provincial-level security seminar in Janakpurdham, the capital of Madhesh Province, on Wednesday, Minister Aryal said the government was formed under the leadership of the incumbent Prime Minister based on consensus between the Gen Z movement and political forces following the protests of September 8 and 9.
“This is a people’s government. It is moving forward in coordination and collaboration in line with the sentiments of citizens and youth, without deviating from integrity and honesty,” he said.
The seminar was jointly organized by the Madhesh Provincial Government, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the provincial Ministries of Home, Communications and Law.
Speaking as chief guest, Madhesh Province Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav expressed confidence that the seminar would be instrumental in assessing the province’s overall security situation and formulating security strategies for the upcoming elections.
Referring to recent incidents of religious communalism in parts of the Terai and damage to physical infrastructure, Chief Minister Yadav said the seminar should address emerging security challenges. He also stressed the need for provincial police integration and the enactment of the Federal Police Act.
Madhesh Province Minister for Home, Law and Communications Fakira Mahato said open borders have posed challenges to effective regulation, underscoring the need for coordination among district police, provincial police and the Armed Police Force.
He added that delays in provincial police integration and the absence of a Police Act have created “invisible security challenges” within the provincial structure, expressing hope that the seminar would help identify and resolve existing security sector issues.
