Ambulance used for marijuana smuggling in Morang, two arrested

By Khem Raj Sapkota, Rani, Dec 29: A joint police team from the Area Police Office, Morang, Belbari and Kerabari in Morang has seized 521 kg of marijuana being transported in an ambulance and arrested two people by open firing in the air.

Nischal Rai of Shahidbhumi Rural Municipality-6, Dhankuta district, and Khagendra Limbu of Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality-2 were arrested after the police opened fire in the air after people tried to flee, leaving an ambulance (Province 1-06-001 Jha 0004 after seeing a team of police mobilized at checking at Kerabari Rural Municipality -5, based on special information received on Sunday night. 

The police have also seized 521 kilograms of marijuana hidden in 16 bags inside the ambulance.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Pokharel, spokesperson for the Koshi Province Police Office, Biratnagar, further investigation is underway into the arrested individuals.
