Speaker Yadav stresses impartial journalism

Mahendranagar, Dec 26: Speaker of Madhes Province, Ram Ashish Yadav, has stressed that journalists should carry out their profession in an independent, impartial and fear-free environment for the institutional development of democracy.

At an interaction organised with journalists at Janakpurdham on Friday, Speaker Yadav urged media persons to publish and disseminate factual news because journalism is a mirror of society. He suggested the political parties, civil society and journalism that they carried out activities honestly and fairly so that anomalies would fizzle out in the country.  

Saying he was committed to making Madhes Province Assembly transparent, accountable and people-oriented, Yadav argued that collaboration with media persons was imperative for it. Lauding the role played by journalists to bring to fore people's concern, Speaker Yadav expressed the belief that truth and fact-based journalism navigates society to a right path.  

The journalists attending the programme enquired Yadav on province's contemporary issues, press freedom and access to information.  (RSS)
