Kathmandu, Dec 25: Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has extended best wishes to all Nepali sisters and brothers in the country and abroad on the occasion of the Christmas Day today. He wished peace, prosperity and happiness to all.

Issuing a message of best wishes, Vice President Yadav viewed the festival bears the message of peace, compassion, love and coexistence. Such festival helps foster humanity, tolerance and social goodwill, Yadav reminded.

"Nepal's constitution has ensured equality, religious freedoms and social justice. Nepal is a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious and multi-cultural country. So various festivals, religions and cultures have strengthened national identity," Vice President Yadav said, adding that such festivals further reflect unity in diversity.

Christmas is celebrated on December 25 every year in commemoration of Christ's birth day.  The festival has religious, social and cultural values.

In recent years, Christmas is being celebrated with fanfare in Nepal as well. The Vice President urged everyone to utilize the festival also as an opportunity to strengthen social justice, inclusion and equality.
