Kathmandu, Dec 25: The Christian community is celebrating the Christmas festival, commemorating the birthday of Jesus Christ today.
Christ was born in Bethlehem, Israel. The day is being observed in memory of Christ's message of hope, love and salvation, according to Chairman of Nepal Christian Federation, CB Gahatraj. He added it is also known as the love day, peace day and liberation day.
The Federation also began marking the Day with fanfare in Nepal since 2063BS.
A Christmas Festival-2025 is being organized with the participation of government representatives, dignitaries and human rights defenders in the federal capital, Kathmandu today.
The government has given a public holiday today. Thamel, Baudha, Pokhara and Sauraha are major places that see special gatherings on Christmas Day in Nepal.
The Federation claims there are 3 million Christians and over 13,000 churches in Nepal. (RSS)
