By Hari Krishna Sharma, Muktinath(Mustang), Dec 6: As the temperature drops, water has frozen on the roads, rivers, and drinking water taps in Upper Mustang.
In some places, tap water has frozen due to the extreme cold in the morning and evening, forcing people to heat ice to drink water.
According to Karma Namgel Gurung, Chair of Ward No 2 in Lomanthang, the temperature has dropped to minus 15 degrees Celsius in the mornings and evenings. Because of the extreme cold, irrigation canals, water taps, and other water sources freeze during these hours.
Residents have to melt snow using fuel to obtain water.
Most people have already moved to lower areas to escape the cold ahead of winter. Until last year, the entire population used to relocate before winter, but this time more than 300 people have remained in the settlement.
According to the Communications Branch of the District Police Office, Mustang, 64 people have returned from Korala after going to the Chinese market to do business.
Meanwhile, 2,040 people have entered through Ghansa along the Beni-Jomsom road section, while 2,973 have left.
According to the District Police Office, Mustang, 2,750 people visited the famous religious site Muktinath Temple. R
