MuAN and NARMIN representatives call on Prime Minister Karki

Kathmandu, Nov 10: Prime Minister Sushila Karki held discussions with people's representatives of the local level government today.     

Discussion was held with office-bearers of the National Association of Rural Municipalities in Nepal (NARMIN) and the Municipalities Association of Nepal (MuAN) in Baluwatar on Monday afternoon, shared the Prime Minister's Press Coordinator Ram Bahadur Rawal.     

The works being done by the local level governments in the recent situation, the problems faced and the preparations for the election were discussed.     

All those present were unanimous in the idea of moving forward with a spirit of cooperation, coordination and coexistence between the federal, provincial and local governments. They were of the view that cooperation should also be forged to maintain good governance and law and order in the country, thereby creating an environment conducive for the upcoming elections.     

Local level people's representatives expressed happiness over the work done by the government led by Prime Minister Karki to create an environment for the elections, appreciating the role being played by the government under her leadership and raising hope.     

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal and Law Minister Anil Kumar Sinha were also present on the occasion. Home Minister Aryal requested the local level governments to provide assistance to the government in maintaining law and order in this unusual situation.     

He requested for assistance in providing information about the government's search for weapons and about 5,000 prisoners.     

Since the local government will have a greater role in holding the election, Prime Minister Karki said that the government will move forward through coordination and cooperation. "The role of the local level in the election is important. We cannot do without coordination and cooperation with you to create an environment and prepare for the election. We will address your concerns. Now, we all need to find a way out of this situation together." She also clarified that it is impossible to move forward by excluding parties in a party system.     

The discussion was attended by various officials, including Laxmi Devi Pandey, President of NARMIN, and Bhim Prasad Dhungana, President of the MuAN.(RSS)
