By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Nov 8: A biopic movie Indira Dhime Maicha released.
The movie features the struggle of a courageous newari girl to break a tradition of not allowing girl to play Newa: Baja (instrument).
The movie is based on the biography of Indira Lachhimasyu. It showed the struggle of Lachhimasyu challenging a belief of culture where females were forbidden from playing the Newa: Baja (instruments).
The movie showed how she made a way to learn baja (instrument) and became first women to play Newa: instruments including Dhime at international stage at a time when girls were not allowed to play.
Rojina Suwal, Simrik Shrestha, Rupendra Shrestha, Ngina Shrestha, Madan Krishna Shrestha are the main characters of the movie directed by Surendra Tuladhar.
