On Monday, September 22, my family and I went to Jhapa by a microbus. We left Kathmandu at 3:30 am and reached Jhapa at 5:30 pm. Jhapa is a district located in Koshi Province, the eastern region of Nepal. We traveled along the BP Highway and Madan Bhandari Lokmarga. We also saw the Saptakoshi River that flows between Sunsari and Udayapur districts. After reaching Itahari, we passed through the East-West Highway. In Jhapa, we stayed at my grandpa's place before going to the Jeep stop in Damak. Our home is in Hangtapa Nagi, Mangsebung Rural Municipality, Ilam.
In the ward office of Mangsebung-6, we made my mom's citizenship recommendation letter. We stayed at the village home. The next day, we visited Mangalbare in Deumai Municipality. There we spent 8 hours, as took time to prepare the citizenship card at the Area Administration Office. In Mangalbare, we stayed at a hotel. The next day, we visited Panitar Tea Garden, before heading to Ilam Bazaar, the district headquarters.
In Ilam, we stayed at Green City Guest house and explored many places like Mahendra Ranta Campus, where my father studied, the first tea factory and the tea garden of Nepal. We also met professors Yuddha Prasad Baidya and Dambar Pahadi, who used to teach my father. We also met my father's friends in Ilam Bazaar. I also had some fun in the Kanyam tea garden.
From Ilam, we went to Birtamode in Jhapa and stayed at my big aunt's place for five days. We visited many places and friends. Finally, we headed to Grandpa's place and stayed for two days, celebrating Dashain before going to Beldangi refugee camp to meet relatives. We also went to Urlabari. Where my next aunt lives.
I, along with my other brothers, played card games. One brother was acting a bit strange but it was because he had lost money. I was so frightened at that time and just ran away. It was raining heavily at that time. We returned to Kathmandu on October 7. We reached home at 10 pm because of a heavy traffic jam along the Bhainse-Daman–Kathmandu road. This trip was very fun and exciting. I learned about many places in Ilam. But the sad thing is that my home district suffered a lot because of the heavy rainfall on October 4.
