Preparations underway to shift Health Ministry to Singha Durbar premises

blog

Kathmandu, Oct 30: Preparations have begun to shift the Ministry of Health and Population to the Singha Durbar premises.

According to Ministry spokesperson Dr Prakash Budhathoki, six temporary prefab structures will be constructed on land owned by the Nepali Army’s Narsing Battalion, located toward the southeast of the Singha Durbar area.

The work will commence once the NA battalion moves to its own building in the northern part of the area. The relocation is expected within the next two weeks, likely by the first day of the month of Mangsir (November 17).

Additionally, the Ministry is considering moving into the building currently occupied by the Parliament Secretariat later if it is allocated after the completion of the new parliamentary building within Singha Durbar.

The Ministry’s existing building at Ramshahpath was severely damaged during the arson on September 9, which occurred amid the Gen Z protest held on September 8–9. For now, the Ministry is operating from a new building of the National Health Research Council located next to the Ministry's damaged building. (RSS)
