necessary measures.
Prime Minister of the Interim Government Sushila Karki chaired the meeting, which was attended by Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal, Home Secretary Rameshwar Dangal, and the chiefs of all four security agencies.
The meeting, which lasted for about two hours, reviewed the current security scenario in detail. The security chiefs briefed the Prime Minister on their respective assessments and highlighted possible security challenges in the coming days.
Talking to the media after the meeting, the Home Minister said that the government had carried out a thorough assessment of the situation. “There are reports that some groups are preparing for street demonstrations. Everyone is free to put forward their political demands in a responsible
manner,” he said. He added that the government had kept the door open for dialogue to address political issues.
“We will hold talks with the concerned parties and seek peaceful solutions through dialogue,” he said, urging political parties to act responsibly in view of the current situation.
Pursue dialogue over street protests: Minister Aryal
Meanwhile, Minister Aryal appealed to groups organising street protests to come forth for dialogue instead. Following the security meeting at Baluwatar on Saturday, he stated that the government was ready for talks.
“The government addresses political demands through dialogue. It is not necessary to take to the streets,” he said. “While exercising democratic rights, protestors must ensure that the rights of others are not violated.”
He also urged all sides to refrain from any form of violence or vandalism. “Public and private property should not be damaged, and no violent activities should take place anywhere. The government appeals to all political forces and demonstrators to maintain peace,” he added.
Minister Aryal further informed that the meeting at Baluwatar conducted a detailed analysis of the nation’s security situation and that the government was focused on normalising the environment and creating a conducive atmosphere for the elections slated for March 5, 2026.
