Three killed, six injured in jeep accident

By Santosh Raut, Solukhumbhu, Oct.24: Three people died on the spot while six others sustained injuries when a Bolero jeep (Province 1-031 Cha 5925), which was en route from Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality of Solukhumbu, to Mahakulung Rural Municipality, Solukhumbu district,  met with an accident in Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality,-6, on Thursday evening. 

It has been revealed that all the onboard passengers, including the driver, hail from Mahakulung Rural Municipality in Solukhumbu.

According to the District Police Office, Solukhumbu, the vehicle involved in the accident veered approximately 600 meters off the road due to brake failure.

The deceased have been identified as 16-year-old Hawi Rai, 20-year-old Shanti Rai, and 17-year-old Nirjala Rai—all hail from Chheskam, Mahakulung Rural Municipality-3.

According to the District Police Office, the injured are 32-year-old Shreedhwaj Rai of Mahkulung-3, 16-year-old Ganga Rai of Mahkulung-4, 18-year-old Bastikala Rai, 16-year-old Samya Rai and Sajna Rai, and 10-year-old Umesh Rai.

Police said that two of the 11 people on board the jeep are safe. 

According to the police, the injured are being treated at the District Hospital, Phaplu, while the bodies of the deceased have been sent to Mahakulung Hospital.
