NAN demands implementation of government's directive to ensure minimum remuneration

blog

Kathmandu, Oct 22: The Nursing Association of Nepal (NAN) has demanded the implementation of the remuneration scale set by the government for nurses on October 13, 2024.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, NAN accused hospitals of disregarding the government's directive issued on October 10, which mandates the provision of minimum wages to nurses. According to NAN, many health facilities have yet to comply with this directive.

Although the government has set the basic salary scale for fifth-level health sector staff at up to Rs 34,000 per month, nurses have complained that they are being paid only Rs 15,000, an amount too meager to meet even their basic needs, NAN said.

It is reported that this situation has caused growing dissatisfaction among nurses working in teaching, government, private, and community hospitals across the country. (RSS)
