Prime Minister Karki reiterates government's pledge to fulfill main responsibilities

PM Karki addressing a reception programme organised by the Nepal Sambat Nhuda Preservation Society on the occasion of the Nepal Sambat New Year 1146 at local Basantapur today.

Kathmandu, Oct 22: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that the government, which is committed to ending corruption, promoting good governance and holding elections, requires the support and cooperation of civil society. 

PM Karki said so while addressing a reception programme organised by the Nepal Sambat Nhuda Preservation Society on the occasion of the Nepal Sambat New Year 1146 at local Basantapur today.   

She also called on everyone to uphold mutual harmony and unity in society, keep democracy alive, and fulfil the national responsibility of controlling corruption.

PM Karki said, "I believe that the current government, moving forward with the main responsibility of ending corruption, maintaining the rule of law, holding the House of Representatives elections, and providing a political solution to the country, will receive support and cooperation from all political parties, civil society, and the common Nepali people."

She said that the government is wholeheartedly committed to normalizing the situation following the Gen-Z movement and completing the elections in a fear-free environment on the stipulated date.

The Prime Minister expressed commitment to conduct elections with the participation of all Nepali people in accordance with the responsibilities of this civil government formed through the force of the movement.

Prime Minister Karki said, "Every day there is some form of dialogue happening with political parties. We are also in continuous dialogue and contact with representatives of the Gen-Z who are carriers of change. Saying that elections are a priority does not mean we have remained silent on issues of corruption and good governance."

She stated that the current government also has the primary responsibility to address the voice for good governance raised by the Gen-Z movement under the Constitution of Nepal and informed that the state mechanisms are also working to produce results in this regard.

'Nepal Sambat calendar is a symbol of Nepali pride, culture and philanthropy'

Likewise, speaking at a programme on Patan, Lalitpur earlier today, Prime Minister Karki described the Nepal Sambat calendar as the symbol of Nepalis' pride, civilization and identity.

The programme was organised by the Manka Khalah Yala on the occasion of the Nepal Sambat New Year 1146, at Patan Mangalbazar today. The event was organized with the support of the Lalitpur Metropolitan City and the cooperation of various indigenous nationalities' organisations of Patan.  

On the occasion, PM Karki expressed her commitment to provide full support for the preservation and promotion of the Nepalbhasa language.

The Nepal Sambat New Year is being celebrated with joy and enthusiasm with special programmes in Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Kathmandu on behalf of various Newar communities.

Similarly, the Nepal Sambat New Year is also celebrated amidst a festive atmosphere in various towns and settlements across the country, especially where the Newar community resides. (RSS)
