Kimathanka, Oct 20: Seven gamblers have been arrested from Khandbari municipality-1 of Sankhuwasabha on Sunday night.
Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, Kumar Prasad Mainali, said acting on a tip-off, the seven people were arrested while gambling from a hotel belonging to Jit Kumar Rai.
He added that Rs 172,935 and four decks of cards were also seized from them. Further investigation was underway. Similarly, two persons were nabbed with firecrackers.
A team deployed from the District Police Office held two persons from Khandbari on the charge of their involvement in smuggling animal hide.
They are Sujan Chaudhary, 18, of Itahari municipality-10 and Jamal Ansari, 48, of Kohi rural municipality-3 in Sunsari. Both of them are currently living at Khandbari-1.
Further investigation was underway into the case, added police. (RSS)
