Nakhu prison escapee arrested in Khandbari

By Sujan Bajracharya, Khandbari (Sankhuwasabha), Oct.20: Police have arrested 27-year-old Bishal Bishowkarma (Bibek) of Khandbari Municipality-8, Sankhuwasabha District, a rape convict who escaped from Nakkhu Prison in Lalitpur.

He escaped from Nakkhu Prison during the GenZ protest that took place across the country on September 8 and 9.

A special team deployed from the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, arrested Bishowkarma on Sunday based on information that he had been living in hiding for a long time after absconding.

According to DSP Kumar Prasad Mainali of Chief of the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, Bishowkarma was arrested about one and a half kilometers from the Khandbari market area.

DSP Mainali said that the escaped prisoner has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway.

According to him, preparations are underway to send Bishowkarma back to Nakkhu Prison after completing the legal process and coordinating with the prison administration.

Bishowkarma was serving a prison sentence in Nakkhu Prison after being found guilty of rape by the court.
