Kathmandu, Oct. 20: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a case against 15 individuals, including Dr. Sangita Kaushal Mishra, a former Director General of the Department of Health Services, for corruption.

They are accused of embezzling 140 million rupees from government funds while purchasing the mammography machine.

The CIAA has accused of collusion in the procurement of false reports and incorrect invoice, and embezzlement of 140 million rupees from government funds while purchasing the mammography machine in the fiscal year 2080/81.

The officials have been facing accusations of having a pre-agreement with the importer, which granted the contractor an unfair advantage.

The CIAA investigation found that the cost estimate was excessively high, violating the Public Procurement Regulation Act of 2063 and 2064 BS. It was determined that the purchasing rate was set without proper approval, and the entire amount was paid based on false reports prepared by the importer.

The CIAA has filed a case in the special court against 15 individuals, including Dr. Sangita Kaushal Mishra, former Director General of the Department of Health Services, and Dr. Shrawan Kumar Thapa, former Director of the department. Other defendants include Dr. Vivek Kumar Lal, Senior Health Administrator Dr. Surendra Chaurasiya, bioengineers Ashis Chauhan and Padma Mishra, and Sundar Bhusal, owner of Masim Incorporation Traders Pvt.
