Kathmandu, Oct. 20: President Ramchandra Paudel has extended heartfelt greetings to all Nepali brothers and sisters at home and abroad on the occasion of Tihar festival, wishing them happiness, peace, prosperity, and continued progress.
In his message issued on Sunday, the President highlighted Nepal’s rich indigenous culture and the role of festivals in uniting the country’s diverse communities.
He described Tihar as one of the major Hindu festivals that binds people of different castes, languages, and traditions through shared rituals and cultural practices. He emphasised that Tihar reflects the interdependent relationship between humans and nature, and reinforces respect and love for family, animals, and deities.
He noted that practices such as Bhai Tika and worship rituals convey messages of love, social unity, compassion, and the triumph of light over darkness. Calling Tihar a festival of light, President Paudel highlighted its cultural, psychological, scientific, and spiritual significance, saying it inspires people to pursue truth, justice, and good governance.
He further expressed the hope that Tihar would further strengthen the spirit of brotherhood, tolerance, social harmony, and prosperity among the Nepali people.
Vice President Ramshay Prasad Yadav has also extended his heartfelt wishes to all Nepalis, both at home and abroad, on the occasion of Tihar.
In his message, Vice President Yadav highlighted that the festival of lights signifies victory over darkness, ignorance, and falsehood, while promoting enlightenment, knowledge, and truth. He called on the people to dispel inner darkness and spread the light of goodwill, as homes and courtyards are adorned with flowers, rangoli, and twinkling lights.
The Vice President also praised Tihar’s role in fostering unity among Nepal’s diverse communities and expressed hope that the festival would inspire harmony, peace and mutual respect.
