By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 13: The benchmark of share market index, NEPSE, has decreased on Sunday, the first trading day of the week.
The NEPSE dropped by 78.83 points and closed at 2,503.35 points on Sunday. The NEPSE index had increased by 22.59 points on Thursday last week.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of group ‘A’ companies also decreased by 11.91 points to close at 439.40 points.
The sub-indices of all groups decreased in today's transaction.
Sub-index of the life insurance group saw the highest fall of 319. 03 points followed by hotels and tourism and non-life group whose indices decreased by 300.18 points and 251.27 points respectively.
Similarly, sub-index of development bank group decreased by 162.47 points, microfinance by 141.38 points, manufacturing and processing by 140.98 points and hydropower by 126.49 points.
Similarly, the sub-index of others group dropped by 109.83 points, trading by 106.57 points, finance by 84.81 points, banking by 31.91 points, investment by 3.26 points and mutual fund by 0.20 points.
Even though the NEPSE index decreased sharply, the daily turnover has increased on Sunday as compared to last Thursday's transaction.
A total of 14,364,682 shares worth Rs. 6.7 billion of 324 companies were bought and sold in 67,202 transactions today.
On Thursday last week, a total 10,656,589 shares worth Rs. 5.17 billion had been bought and sold.
The share price of 283 companies decreased while the share price of 27 companies increased in today’s transaction.
On Sunday, share price of Butwal Power Company decreased by 9.27 per cent, Nepal Reassurance Company by 9.15 per cent and Radhi Bidyut Company by 8.5 per cent.
However, share price of Nepal Micro Insurance Company increased by 6.01 per cent, Panchakanya Mai Hydro by 4.9 per cent and Citizens Bank Debenture 2090 by 3.97 per cent.
